Climate Change

We proactively consider climate change in our business decisions

Chevron is taking actions to address climate change and is committed to working with policymakers to design balanced and transparent greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions policies that address environmental goals and ensure consumers have access to affordable, reliable and ever cleaner-energy.

Chevron shares the concerns of governments and the public about climate change. We recognize the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that the use of fossil fuels contributes to increases in global temperatures. We align our outlook and activity with the principles of the IPCC.

Energy Efficiency

Chevron's Pipeline & Power organization collaborates with the company's upstream and downstream businesses to help lower their energy costs, test new technologies, achieve efficiency gains, manage emissions and improve power reliability.

Greenhouse Gas Management

We are committed to managing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by lowering the company’s carbon intensity, increasing our use of renewable energy to support our business and investing in the future, targeting breakthrough technologies. We maintain and report inventories of our emissions, undertake projects to manage our emissions and apply innovative technologies to improve the efficiency of our operations.

Investing in Innovation

Chevron believes investing in the innovations and innovators of tomorrow. We systematically identify, develop, qualify, integrate and deploy technology from our research, partnership, joint venture and venture capital investments.

Renewable Energy

Chevron continues its commitment to understanding and evaluating opportunities across a range of alternative and renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, and biofuels, as well as energy efficiency technologies. We conduct internal research and collaborate with governments, businesses and academia to develop renewable energy sources.
